Ledbury Master’s House celebrates second anniversary opening

On 9th March 2017 the Friends of the Master’s House, celebrated the second anniversary of the opening of the restored House. Rachel Lambert, Heritage and Volunteer Co-ordinator, provided a chocolate ‘birthday’ cake which the many visitors enjoyed in the Panelled Room.

The Friends’ new website was displayed on the big screen together with informatin on their new project, ‘Joined up Heritage’. This has attracted a further grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, supported by the Ledbury and District Civic Society, The Pippin Trust and the Town Council. Many local organisations including the Ledbury Library Development Group wrote in support of this project which will benefit the whole community. The aim of the project is to support and promote the main heritage buildings in the town and involve and encourage volunteering. This project will run from 18th April for twenty two months. Both the Friends and LLDG are delighted that Rachel Lambert has been apointed as the new Development Manager.
Over the two years since the Master’s House was re-opened, the library has seen a steady increase in use, particularly in the children’s section. The House has received many visitors and the Friends have arranged many tours. This much loved House has also been the venue for a wide range of community events and has proved an ideal setting for everything from poetry evenings to a medieval feast.
